Jebel Ali International Airport, Dubai, is the next site in a series of high-profile international construction projects that have approved and ordered wastewater Double Hinge Flap Valves from Cheshire based Aquaflow Valves, a Division of T-T PUMPS Ltd.

Jebel Ali International Airport will be the world’s largest when finished at a cost of more than $8 billion. The airport will have at least six parallel runways and six concourses, capable of handling more than 120 million passengers and more than 12 million tons of cargo a year.

The airport’s extensive storm and surface water drainage system, designed to remove wastewater from the site, will include a number of Aquaflow’s Double Hinged Flap Valves, which when located at key points within outfall applications will prevent reverse flow.

The Double Hinged Flap Valves selected feature a lightweight ductile iron frame & door, double hinge mechanism for optimal seating, anti-tamper stainless steel hinge pins, self-lubricating copper alloy bushes and a durable fusion bonded epoxy coating for additional corrosion resistance.

When selecting and approving the most suitable supplier for this project, many factors had to be taken into consideration, such as quality of product, availability, order and shipment speed and the facility to stipulate special design features that needed to be incorporated in each valve.
