Tennis Club goes from strength to strength with help from local company

T-T pride themselves on working closely with local associations and during 2017 worked with Market Drayton Tennis club to manufacture and provide a new practice wall. T-T set the challenge for their engineers to design and create a 3.6m x 2.4m portable practice wall. The tennis club had a very successful 2017 and T-T hope the new practice wall will help them to continue to succeed throughout 2018!

During 2017 the tennis club developed a number of new initiatives to help get locals of all ages in the community active and enjoying the sport. The new programme included a buddy system of volunteers to ensure any new members to the club have someone to play with, internal leagues to introduce new members and non-competitive members into the competitive game and funding towards Zak Williams’s coaching qualification which is now providing more flexibility and availability of lessons.

Dave Williams, a spokesperson of the Tennis Club, explains “We’ve got around 165 members and are a very active club in terms of playing tennis socially and competitively. Not only do we all love playing tennis, we have a very social club environment and hold many social events throughout the year.

Nominated for the Shropshire Aegon Tennis Award two years in a row, the club is going from strength to strength both in terms of competitive tennis and becoming a recognised social club in the local area.
