ATEX Approved Liquid Handling Solutions

T-T have a range of ATEX approved products in their portfolio. These products are suitable for liquid handling solutions in Zone 1 rated applications. Included in the range are submersible sewage pumps, chopper pumps and level control. ATEX certification is required in the pump industry for when products are to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. This could be in industrial process industries where chemicals and gases are used, also normal applications in wastewater treatment.

One of T-T’s divisions, T-T Pumping Stations manufacture, supply and install many adoptable pumping stations. In many of the Water Authorities sewers for adoption addendums, ATEX approved submersible sewage pumps are a requirement. Water Authorities require ATEX approved pumps to be included in pumping stations in potentially explosive environment. Therefore, T-T have a range of submersible sewage pumps with ATEX approval. Included in the range are the Uniqa and Grey range, available from 1.5kW to 355kW motors, these pumps have passed rigorous testing to ensure they are suitable for use in potentially explosive environments.

Due to the ragging issue in pumping stations and sewer systems, we have added the PTS-EX chopper pump range to our ATEX approved products. PTS chopper pumps have been available on the market for some time, but we realised that an ATEX approved chopper pump would solve the ‘ragging’, ‘fatberg’ and clogging issues that many pumping stations are experiencing at the moment. The chopping action breaks down particle size via an extremely heavy-duty cutting action leaving pump-able, yet a manageable particle size to transport down the sewer system.

T-T have also developed the FLO101 float switch, which received substantial investment in order to meet the demands of the industry. The FL0101 is T-T’s ATEX and IECEx approved float switch model. After completing extensive research into notified bodies which could assist with the compliance, this resulted in the selection of a suitable partner who worked closely with T-T’s dedicated Quality Assurance and Product Development department, carrying out extensive testing of the product ensuring T-T produced an ATEX and IECEx compliant product. FLO101 contains a low current microswitch, suitable for Zone 0 applications, which when used with an ATEX/ IECEx approved barrier, it is compatible with the voltage and current requirements of intrinsically safe systems, such as areas designated as hazardous gas environments.

T-T, based in Woore, Cheshire, have been supplying liquid handling solutions since 1959. Their six divisions work together to supply pumps, pumping stations, valves, controls and other liquid transfer equipment from a single source.
