Cosford Custom Wastewater Treatment Upgrade
All five divisions of the T-T family recently collaborated on a project in Cosford, Shropshire. Here they worked as a single-source solution for the installation of a custom intelligent valve upgrade at a wastewater treatment facility.
THE PROBLEM
Operatives at the Cosford facility were manually adjusting gate valves throughout the day to maintain control of sludge tank levels, putting them at risk of exposure to hazardous gasses.
THE SOLUTION
T-T began with an initial survey of the site, using this information to define their control philosophy for the project. This set our objectives for the upgrade and how to achieve them, guaranteeing effective solutions and efficient installation.
Many of the products used were custom manufactured to maximise their efficiency. T-T devised individually programmable control panels to provide greater control of the system, with preset options included for frequency of operation, cycle time and valve position. Rotork manufactured the actuators (intelligent modulating IQ range with 4-20mA position feedback) with manual override capability, adding another level of control to the system. T-T sized the actuators to perfectly fit the site's existing valves - alongside fabricating valve operating equipment and control panel mounting frames to site specifications.
T-T fully tested the assembled control panel and actuators prior to installation to prevent any delays from non-functioning equipment. Accompanied by new cable ducts and emergency stops, the safety of operations at the site have been greatly built-upon.
There was little margin left for downtime during this process. By overseeing the removal of redundant equipment, T-T ensured a speedy commissioning of the wastewater treatment site.
