T-T Manufacture Bespoke Solutions for existing Pumps

The Problem

A third party supplied six high-quality Zenit Electric Submersible Drainage Pumps, which were used as part of the stand drainage system at the world-famous Oval Cricket Ground in London. Renowned for its distinctive shape, the iconic Kennington venue has over the years played host to many of cricket’s most memorable moments, including the first-ever Test on English soil in 1880.

Unfortunately, the client experienced an issue with the pumps not stopping or starting properly, which was something that needed to be resolved as soon as possible. As the sole UK partner for Zenit, TT-Pumps were entrusted to advise the client and provide a robust solution to ensure the correct functioning of the pumps over the long term.

The Solution

The affected components were 6x sump pump sets with Electric Submersible Drainage Pumps DRO200/2/G50V and built-in F-type float switch. Manufactured by renowned specialists Zenit Pumps, they are ideal for a wide range of industrial and domestic applications, boasting a cast iron construction with heavy-duty bearings and a double silicon carbide mechanical seal.

Upon investigation, it was found that the problem was caused by the float getting snagged on the pipework and sump cover. To resolve the issue, T-T produced special float support arms, which modified the operation of the built-in float switch to allow the pumps to run correctly within the existing steel sump hung under the floor of the new stand.

As an experienced engineering company, T-T has a wealth of experience in providing bespoke components to meet the needs of our clients and resolve issues such as this one.   After completing the modification, the system was left operating satisfactorily, resulting in a very happy client.

T-T Pumps offers a comprehensive range of rugged and durable drainage pumps and supporting components to keep drainage waters under control, including solutions suitable for domestic, industrial, agricultural, quarries, mines, sewage works, treatment works and general water extraction applications.
