Bovis Homes, Cheshire - Adoptable Pumping Station
T-T Pumping Stations are experts in providing adoptable pumping stations to all Water Authority requirements and to Sewers for Adoption standards. We have recently supplied a Bovis Homes development with a United Utilities, 7th Edition Sewers for Adoption Type 3 Pumping Station. The sewage pumping station was installed to service the 245-house Bovis Homes development, located in Haslington, Cheshire.
The adoptable station was a 3m internal diameter by 6.35m deep concrete chamber with a separate, adjacent valve chamber. The pumping station requires emergency storage of 39.2m3 to cater for the occupancy of the 245 dwellings. The water pumping station had all the requirements demanded by United Utilities including control equipment housed in a roadside weatherproof kiosk. The sewage pump station was supplied with two DGN pumps, one ultrasonic level detection system and one ATEX FLO101 high-level alarm float switch. T-T also installed a Text-Tel telemetry unit to monitor any alarms prior to adoption.
Due to a low point along the rising main a washout chamber and air release valve was required. The washout chamber is designed to ensure any sediment that may settle in the lowest point of the raising main can be washed out via manhole access. The air release valve ensures that there is no air entrapment in the pipelines, thus avoiding water hammer.

The delivery and installation schedule of the sewage pumping station was arranged to suit the requirements of the overall site program and the adoptable pumping station was commissioned to ensure full working order. T-T lead the adoption process and ensured a smooth handover to United Utilities.
