Urgent Pumping Station Adaption for Yorkshire School

When an essential pump at a school in West Yorkshire had come to the end of its life, T-T Pumps stepped in to provide a rapid solution involving the adaption of a pumping station, working to ensure the school could stay open with the minimum of disruption.

The Problem

T-T recently visited a school near Wakefield, West Yorkshire on behalf of a new distributor to look at a pump that had come to its end of life. On inspecting the site and the pump, it appeared that it used a non-conventional guide rail system.

As the original pump was no longer manufactured, there was a choice of renewing all the pumping station pipework which was in good condition or manufacturing a new auto coupling to fit the existing pipework and the new pump.

The Solution

After T-T Pumps carried out a thorough inspection, it was decided that the adaption of the pumping station was the best option. This involved refurbishing the current pump auto coupling and associated fitting to ensure it would work with the new pump, a DGG 550/2/65 A0FT5 submersible sewage pump.

As the pumping station was essential for the school to remain open with the minimum of disruption, the necessary components were manufactured in the dedicated T-T Pumps Fabrication Workshop, enabling a rapid turnaround and minimum of disruption to the school.

The selected pump was a DGG 550/2/65, offering a 4.0 kW output with a 65 mm discharge and solids handling of up to 65 mm. Manufactured by Zenit, the DGG range is a robust submersible sewage pump with a unique setback vortex impeller, being ideal for unstrained biological wastewater and sewage for civil lifting applications.
