Belle Greve Pumping Station - Gate Valves

Belle Greve Pumping Station is undergoing an upgrade to prolong its lifespan, work started in 2008 and it is crucial to the island's future sewage management programme. T-T Flow were approached by the principal contractor working on behalf of Guernsey Water, because three DN600 wedge gate valves had previously been supplied a few years ago by a framework manufacturer, which had heavily corroded due to being in a saltwater environment.

The corroded wedge gate valves played a crucial role in controlling the flow and therefore it was vital they were sufficiently working as soon as possible. Following extensive discussions between T-T Flow and themselves to ascertain hydraulic parameters and installation characteristics, T-T Flow proposed a solution and secured an order to supply three replacement DN600 gate valves that would stand these arduous conditions. T-T Flow were able to do this by upgrading the seat and spindle nut material to aluminium bronze and, spindle in super-duplex stainless steel. The ductile iron-bodied valves were triple coated in a marine grade-two-pack resin to greater than 800 microns, to ensure the valves were fully protected from the conditions.
