Hi-Dro Boost for Golf Course Irrigation

As part of an overhaul of the golf course irrigation system at Redbourn Golf Club in St Albans, there was a requirement for a robust and reliable water pressurisation set that could increase water flow and pressure to the site's specifications.

The Problem

Redbourn Golf Club is a prestigious course located close to St Albans in Hertfordshire, offering a beautifully landscaped main 18-hole course and a shorter 9-hole course to cater to different golfing abilities.

Over the last few years, the club has worked on improving the efficiency of their on-site water harvesting, as part of this improvement a new 7,200m³ irrigation lake was completed in 2019.

The next phase of the project included an overhaul of the whole irrigation system used on the course, with the aim of reducing mains water usage. As part of the upgrade, T-T's HiDro Boost was supplied to increase flow and pressure as required.

The Solution

After carefully assessing the requirements of the project, T-T Pumps supplied a HiDro Boost clean water pressurisation set that can provide a flow rate of 20m³/hr at a maximum pressure of 8.8 bar. Careful selection was vital to ensure that the booster set could pump the water far enough and with sufficient pressure to reliably irrigate the course.

The supplied HiDro Boost featured vertical multistage pumps with motor-mounted variable-speed drives that monitor water pressure in real-time, adjusting motor power consumption to either increase or reduce this pressure to match the current demand for and supply of water. Manufactured using the latest pumping technology, these high-quality booster sets use WRAS-compliant components and are assembled using stainless steel suction and delivery manifolds for robust long-term operation.

T-T also supplied a bespoke control panel including a backup fail-safe system via T-T Smart Digital Pressure Controllers, guaranteeing that the Hidro Boost will perform effectively. The set was housed in its own kiosk, with heating and ventilation capability to protect the pumping equipment in winter and prevent it from overheating in summer.
