Hi-Dro Boost Set for Motorway Services

T-T Pumps supplied a new variable-speed Hi-Dro Booster Set for a busy motorway service station in Wales, including the removal of the old booster set and the installation and commissioning of the new one. To minimise disruption, all work took place overnight and within a fixed time period to the satisfaction of the client.

The Problem

Magor Services is a motorway service station on the M4 in Wales, located just off junction 23A near Newport in Monmouthshire. Originally constructed because of the building of the second Severn Crossing and rerouting of the existing motorway, the site officially opened in 1992 and is today one of the largest and busiest motorway service stations in the country. 

The current services has itself survived proposed plans to build an M4 bypass that would have potentially left Magor two miles from the main carriageway, similar to what happened to the original Severn View services on construction of the crossing.

When an old fixed speed booster set installed at the site became unreliable and no longer fit for purpose, there was a requirement for a new variable speed set to replace it. TT were contacted by a Mechanical and Electrical Contractor to provide a competitive tender and, following our successful winning submission, TT supplied, installed and commissioned a new Hi-Dro Booster Set at the site.

The Solution

Working closely to the brief, TT’s own dedicated engineers installed and commissioned our T-T HiDro Boost DAS VXR15-3 T VSD, a Duty / Assist / Standby set complete with 3kw VXR15-3 vertical multistage pumps, stainless steel suction and delivery manifolds.

This robust, high-quality set includes Bluetooth-enabled variable speed drives and was mounted by our engineers on a stainless steel baseplate, using our in-house fabrication capability to produce bespoke stainless steel pipework to work with the existing site infrastructure.

All work took place overnight and within a fixed time period in order to minimise disruption to the site.
