Challenging Legacy Check Valve Replacement by T-T Flow

Axial check valve.

As manufacturing progresses to embrace new technologies, industries and regulations, having comprehensive knowledge of valves is essential to implementing effective legacy valve replacements.

The Problem

A contractor working with the UK’s North-West water provider came to the experts at T-T Flow for assistance in identifying a legacy axial check valve that was needed as part of a clean water pumping station upgrade.

The identification was done remotely via photos sent from the site, however the poor quality of the images posed a challenge for our team in trying to pin down the exact valve model.

The Solution

With their combined knowledge of makes, models and manufacturers, T-T Flow were able to recognise and find a suitable substitution for the legacy check valves. Our team quickly sourced two DN500 axial check valves from a highly regarded European manufacturer, allowing for the contractor to stay within their tight deadline.

The 500kg 16 Bar check valves will ensure that clean water only moves one way through the pumping station – this is vital to preventing water contamination, process disruption and damage to the system’s components.

The axial design means that the check valve is installed in-line with the existing pipework so that the water flows through uninterrupted. This streamlined flow path allows for moving higher capacities of water, minimal flow resistance and a more compact valve design.

All-round Experts

T-T Flow stocks a wide range of supporting utility valves, including metal seat wedge gate valves, swing check valves, air valves and penstocks. The team also fabricate custom site-specific operating equipment – such as extension spindles, T-keys and pedestals – to perfectly suit the needs of your site.
