Air Valves for £1billion Wastewater Network

A local development were in need of air valves and washout chamber components for their new site's primary pumped wastewater network.

The Problem

The development is a £1b scheme set to include 3,000 new homes, 850,000 sq ft of offices and more. The mixed-use site will cover a 63 acre area and require a primary pumped wastewater network able to accommodate periods of variable flow rates in an effective and reliable manner.

The Solution

T-T's engineers began by working alongside the development's principal contractor to study site-wide hydraulic simulations.  From this T-T Flow correctly sized air valves to ensure balanced flow efficiencies would be achieved across the finished site.

The order was delivered fully preassembled to reduce the cost of the project and enable prompt installation upon delivery. Assembling the air valves in our Cheshire-based warehouse before shipment meant T-T could guarantee a high quality functional final product.

Air valves are installed along high points of a wastewater network to allow for a consistent flow of liquid. This is achieved through the variable release and intake of air to prevent pressure build-up and vacuums respectively. The wastewater air valves supplied and assembled by T-T for this application work to a pressure of up to 16 Bar and undergo hydrostatic pressure tests of up to 24 Bar, guaranteeing they are fit and safe for use.

T-T also supplied washout chamber components for installation at the wastewater network's low points where sediment and storm water can accumulate. Washout chambers are vital to network longevity, with quick couplers aiding connection to external tankers/jetters. This helps to maintain the efficiency of wastewater networks, as collected debris can cause damage and negatively impact its operations.

Our ability to provide fully preassembled equipment meant that the client benefitted from no on-site distractions, lower project costs, quicker installation and improved product quality.

T-T Flow stock a wide range of utility valves, including options for site-specific fabricated valve operating equipment to suit your needs.

It’s important that these valves are sized and selected to suit individual site hydraulics so that they function optimally, contact the knowledgeable T-T team for advice on +44 (0)1630 647200 or explore the range online here.
