As commissioned by TFL, the project included the addition of a new public space and tunnels and shafts reaching 29m underground. Due to the vast scale of the project and the required specification, a bespoke pumping scheme was to be designed that could aid the comprehensive requirements.
T-T Pumps was selected to supply and install control systems, pumps and valves, to the commission work required. A range of pumps were selected from the Zenit range, including the DGN, MAN, APN and ZUG pumpgs, chosen due to their robust design and efficient features. Both the valves and the pipework were selected and approved as specified. Control panels were designed to the requirements of the project and to TFL specifications. Factory acceptance testing took place to ensure all products were suitable for this application which is vital to be in optimal working condition on a day-to-day basis. TFL need products that can rely on to work tirelessly without failure, and T-T pride themselves on being able to offer these solutions.
John Plant, Technical Support Manager, commented “It’s always exciting working with TFL, it’s always reassuring to know that T-T can provide products to pass their stringent competences and when we design something new for TFL it always feels like an accomplishment at the end. Working on Tottenham Court Road gave us scope to show our vast capabilities.”
The project won this prize due to the innovative engineering and funding and T-T are proud to have been part of the process.
